  • Institute for Construction Innovation (i4ci) Thought Consortium Presents at Major National Conferences

The Institute for Construction Innovation would like to thank our esteemed members of the Thought Consortium, who presented their forward-thinking and relevant concepts during the National Conferences Advancing Preconstruction in  May 2023. The Institute for Construction Innovation’s (i4Ci) Thought Consortium, tackles the construction industry’s most pressing challenges that face our industry.

In May, esteem members: Paul Martin (UC Davis), Joseph Leoncavallo (Rosendin Electric), Hung Nguyen-Viet, Ph.D., PMP. (Herrero Builders), Kamesh Tangirala, CCP (The Boldt Company), Colin Moore (University of Utah), Vishesh Vikram Singh (Ph.D. candidate UC Berkeley), and Rich Schoener (Stanley Black & Decker, Inc.) presented “Understanding and Planning for Project Cycles Jumps to Improve Efficiency, Mitigate Risk, and Strengthen Team Culture,” at the National Conference Advancing Preconstruction in Pheonix, AZ on May 23. Dr. Nguyen, Mr. Martin, and Mr. Singh also presented on “Harnessing AI and Parametric Estimating to Improve Reliability.”

In June, Mr. Martin also represented the Thought Consortium presenting “Exploring 7 Concepts that help align relevant data for a reliable lens usage analysis and predictive state” at the National Conference Advancing Construction Analytics in Scottsdale, AZ,

  • INSTITUTE FOR CONSTRUCTION INNOVATION AWARDS SCHOLARSHIP TO DAVID SEIFERT OF CALTRANS

Seifert will attend the Advanced Studies in Active Estimating and Integrated Cost Management program offered exclusively at UC Davis.

(DAVIS, CA) The Institute for Construction Innovation has awarded a scholarship to David Seifert, Branch Chief, Cost Estimates North, at Caltrans – California Department of Transportation – to attend the Advanced Studies in Estimating and Integrated Cost Management program. The program is offered exclusively at UC Davis, Continuing and Professional Education.

Mr. Seifert was selected based on his professional experience and his dedication to enhancing the construction industry.

Participants of UC Davis’s Advanced Studies program learn to master five main pillars: Behavior, Alignment, Process, Communication, and Analytics. The program is leading a new era in design and preconstruction. The Advanced Studies program teaches industry professionals to:

    • Transform Team Perspectives,
    • Apply Active Estimating to Achieve Targeted Costs,
    • Examines integration of new technologies available to the construction industry,
    • Master Probability Factors that lead to Predicative Risk Mitigation,
    • Employ Analytical Strategies for accurate cost awareness,
    • Optimize Behaviors that drive Target Value Design cost certainty.

The program uses a “think-tank” approach to optimizing success within Integrated Project Teams. Participants include Owners, Architects, Engineers, General Contractors, and Trade Partners.
