Dr. Binh TA is the Head of the BIM team at the Institute of Construction Economics – Ministry of Construction of Vietnam. Dr. Binh TA was a vital member of a research project for the Vietnam BIM Roadmap for improving the efficiency of design, construction, and asset management in Vietnam from 2014 to 2015. The Roadmap was proposed to the government and was approved in Decision No. 2500/QĐ-TTg dated December 22nd, 2016, by the Prime Minister. Since then, he has served in the Task Group for BIM Steering Committee and coordinates the national BIM program.
Department of Research on Construction Investment, where Dr. TA is responsible for managing the system of unit costs and price indices in Vietnam’s construction industry. Enthusiastic about research in cost management, in particular at the conceptual stage.
Dr. TA’s Ph.D. thesis proposes a framework to analyze structures during their life cycle according to economic, environmental, and social axes. Multi-criteria analysis is introduced to assess all design solutions and has a global vision that helps bridge owners and managers in the decision-making process. A performance-based analysis is also performed to consider different maintenance scenarios and optimize management strategies with Genetic Algorithm during the service life. The proposed approach is applied to steel-concrete composite bridges for illustration.
